In the lead-up to the 2024 election, Jesse Watters discussed the growing number of legal battles that could shape the electoral landscape, emphasizing the extensive legal team backing Kamala Harris.

Kamala Harris speaks at Ripon College, Thursday, October 3, 2024, in Ripon, Wis.

During his segment, Watters highlighted how the Biden administration’s strategies, including changes to election rules, are raising alarms about the integrity of the electoral process.”The election is three weeks away, but the legal battles have already begun. Lawyers could have more say than voters,” Watters noted.

He referenced a report from Politico indicating that Kamala Harris has assembled “hundreds of lawyers on call in all 50 states.” He pointed out that her “massive legal teams [are] already waging electoral war in the courts,” with one official claiming success in “winning nine out of 10 cases.”

Watters criticized what he termed the Democrats’ redefinition of “voter protection,” asserting that such measures often involve changing the rules to favor their interests. “This could throttle the swing states and cause us to lose even more faith in our elections,” he said, underscoring the potential impact on voter trust.

The host also highlighted a recent ruling in Georgia where a judge mandated that election officials must certify results even in cases of suspected voter fraud.

He noted, “Around the state, Democrats are suing to prevent Drop Box surveillance, hand-counting ballots, and voter ID protections. Why are Democrats trying to make elections less secure?”

Turning his focus to Virginia, Watters addressed Governor Glenn Youngkin’s successful efforts to remove non-citizens from voter rolls. “Governor Youngkin removed more than 6,000 noncitizens from the rolls. The Biden-Harris administration didn’t like that,” Watters explained.

He mentioned the ongoing lawsuit from the Justice Department against Virginia, arguing that it contradicts longstanding practices in the state.

A video clip of Governor Youngkin elaborated on the issue. “Why is it that anyone could argue that a process that removes noncitizens off of our voter rolls is anything else other than common sense and constitutional? This is a law that’s been on our books since 2006 that was a law that was signed by then Democrat Governor Tim Kaine,” Youngkin stated. He expressed his disbelief at the lawsuit’s timing, saying, “This has been going on in accordance with our Constitution, the federal constitution and state law since 2006.”

Watters continued to emphasize the need for integrity in elections. “It’s simple. We just want free and fair elections,” he declared. He criticized the Democrats for attempting to loosen election rules and for seeking Republican compliance in certifying results before the election has even occurred. “Asking you to accept the results of an election before the election, it’s like a waiter demanding you agree that the dinner was good before it was served.”

The host questioned the Democratic narrative around election integrity, particularly as Trump’s poll numbers rise. “But now that Trump’s up in the polls, Democrats are saying Trump’s already stealing the election,” he pointed out.

He cited comments from Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin, who expressed doubt about Trump using “free, fair, and honest means to secure a victory.”

Watters concluded by challenging the motives behind the Democrats’ push for rule changes, asking, “Now, if Democrats really want a fair fight, why are they working so hard to change all the rules?”
